Christian beliefs
regarding animal psychics
Christianity has always condemned psychics. The Bible is clear
that psychics (and those who claim occult powers) are agents of Satan
(Deuteronomy 20:27, Leviticus 18:10-13).
“Let no one be found among you . . . who is a medium
or a spiritist . . Anyone who does these things is detestable to the
Lord” (Deuteronomy 18:9-13)
The bestselling book
The Occult Invasion clearly explains how Satan empowers psychics
and teach the psychic to masquerade as a God-loving Christian. This site
explains the Christian
condemnation of animal psychic acts:
"Satan and his demons will give a psychic information
about a person, in order to get that person hooked into spiritism –
something that God forbids.
It appears innocent at first, but soon a person finds
themselves addicted to psychics – allowing Satan to control and destroy
their life.
1 Peter 5:8 proclaims, “Be self-controlled and alert.
Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone
to devour".
I would advise you to stay as far away from psychics
as you can."
Catholicism and Animal
Communicators
Catholicism strongly believes that animal communicators is "of the
Devil". Catholics believe that psychic animal communication falls
under "attempts
to tame occult powers" and that the practice is "gravely contrary to the
virtue of religion".
In
The Order for the Legion of Saint Michael web site, we see an on-point
citation from the Catholic Catechism condemning psychic animal
communicators:
Question:
I was quite dismayed to see how many "animal
communicators" call themselves psychics, and use Reiki and other such
things that are dangerous.
But, as someone who believes that every good gift of God can be and is
counterfeited, I am wondering if maybe there are those who have and can use
this ability in good conscience as Christians? Is this how St Francis did
it?
Answer:
I do not believe that anyone communicates with animals
through any form of telepathy. There are some animals that can be trained in
some limited communications skills using images and gestures such as chips
and dophins, but an "animal psychic" is nonsense.
Even if it were possible, we are forbidden to dabble in such things.
The Catechism states:
Divination and magic
2115 God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still,
a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into
the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up
all unhealthy curiosity about it. Improvidence, however, can constitute a
lack of responsibility.
2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan
or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to
"unveil" the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading,
interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and
recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history,
and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to
conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving
fear that we owe to God alone.
2117 All practices of magic or sorcery, by which one attempts to
tame occult powers, so as to place them at one's service and have a
supernatural power over others -- even if this were for the sake of
restoring their health -- are gravely contrary to the virtue of
religion.
Attempting to communicate through telepathy falls under
attempts to tame occult powers. . . .
God bless,
