Miniature Horse Sexual Preference
While scientific studies are non-conclusive, it appears that horses have
distinct sexual preferences and that horse homosexuality and bisexuality is
more related to environment than to genetics.
Horse Sexual Preference
It is well-documented in horse breeding that stallions have very clear
sexual preferences for their partners. Many breeding stallions have
color preferences for their mare's, and colored blankets must be used.
For example, a Bay Stallion may refuse to breed a gray mare and a brown
blanket must be placed on the mare in order to pasture breed.
Stallion Bisexuality
Bisexuality is prevalent in bachelor stallion groups that have no access
to mares. Without access to heterosexual activity, many stallion will
engage in typical homosexual activity, mounting other stallions and adopting
mare-like heat display to entice other stallions.
